Does God always give us what we want? Fifteen years ago, on the night of our engagement, I remember my then-future husband and I talking about our upcoming lives together. We need to understand that. The key here is that the heart of the seeker is changed—when we delight in the Lord, God’s desires begin to become our own. When God Gives Us What We Need, Not What We Want. The apostle Paul reminded us that "we know not what we should pray for as we ought" (Romans 8:26).
As I think back over the years, I am thankful that God did not grant my selfish requests. Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. Acts 17:24-25, God that made the world and all things therein , seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; Neither is worshipped with men's hands, AS THOUGH HE NEEDED ANY THING , seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things. Because we are inherently selfish, our prayer requests often reflect more greed than need.

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. - But my God shall supply all your need; rather, as R.V., every need of yours, My God; the pronoun is emphatic, as in Philippians 1:3.God will accept your offerings as made to him; you have supplied my need, he will supply every need of yours.
There are certainly those who say the answer is yes. Especially if we have enough faith. The Spirit God Gave Us Does Not Make Us Timid “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” —2 Timothy 1:7. Rather, it means that, when we delight ourselves in God, then we will find everything we want and need in Him. Verse 19. Bible Verses About Why We Need God Bible verses related to Why We Need God from the King James Version (KJV) ... 2 Timothy 1:7 - For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. The message puts it like this: For God is greater than our worried hearts and knows more about us than we do ourselves. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him. I got an email the other day with this passage from the Bible: This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. According to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. We need to understand that. This verse does not give us a way to manipulate God; nor does it mean that, if we obey, He will reward us with whatever treat we crave. By Lori Clemmons “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Jeremiah 29:11. Fear has no place in the life of a Christian. By the name of Jesus Christ who lives in us, we’ve been given authority over fear. God is good to us, but he does not need us. In contrast with God's omniscience is our lack of knowledge.
