Krav Maga is a style that was born out the necessity for an effective, practical close-quarter combat system for use on the streets or on the battlefield. KM, like all military combative systems, is designed around making soldiers more aggressive and game for hand 2 hand confrontations. Regular sparring is done to work your technique and get a feel of what a real life situation is like. Krav Maga is to self-defense like what Tae Bo or Turbo Kick to kickboxing. Wow. I know that it depends a lot on the instructor and the gym but given it would be good, is it worth learning? Krav Maga training is based on a lot of choreographed martial arts – meaning that you’ll train specific self-defense techniques over and over again knowing ahead of time what’s coming so you’ll look like a total bad-ass in the gym. It all comes down to how the instructor teaches it and what they emphasize. Krav Maga & BJJ programs are definitely worth dedicating, learning, and pursuing excellence in their mastery. The problem is that a lot of Israeli Martial Artists or Sensei smelled the money.
Krav Maga is not a sporting system, and is generally an ineffective delivery system for violence in general.
