I’m happy to say that the Bay Area boys skipped the “suck” and went for “awesome and thrashing”. The guitars are a bit fuzzier on this track compared to the others with their most polished sound, but who could deny the fun moments when the solos come in. With the addition of the new axeman Steve Smyth (ex Testament/Nevermore) the bandâs … For bands like Forbidden, the only real option that exists is to head back to their roots, play it relatively safe, and keep this thrash thing alive. Forsaken at the Gates, the blistering Omega Wave, Immortal Wounds, and the nearly perfect Dragging My Casket are unearthly expressions of this thrash metal passion. Forbidden abandons any past or modern pretense and makes thrash metal vital again by combining heaviness, speed, melody, and technicality into a marvelously accessible package.
