Facing Island For the self-sufficient campers, Facing Island offers visitors a choice of 32 unpowered sites where your only worry is where you’re going to wet a line the next day. Facing Island Facing Island is located approximately 12km from the Gladstone mainland and is accessible by private boat or barge service. Access to Facing Island is by private vessel or via Curtis Ferry Services which operates five days per week and can transport passengers and vehicles. Description. ACCESS The Oaks on Facing Island are pristine, relaxed, beachfront camping grounds, located on the north-west side of Facing Island, a short distance from the Ferry drop off point at Farmers Point. The whole of Facing Island is your playground..... from the 2 tranquil leeward beaches 30m from your house, to the "fairy rock-pools" and geological formations of Castle Rocks on the ocean side beaches.
The Island has long sandy beaches and designated camping areas, perfect for those who have 4WD's, a fishing rod, a surfboard, or those who simply want to relax and explore the unspoilt bushland and coastline. There is a time limit of 42 days applicable. A canoe is available, if you would like to paddle the calmer waters, life jackets are not supplied.
